 New Today Page

The "Today" Page on the Menu has been changed. It still lists messages in the order in which they have been received. However a message subject will now only be listed "ONCE" instead of repeating it redundantly down the page, we now show you how many reponses have be posted to the thread Topic, the name of the most recent "poster" to the Thread, and the date and time of the most recent response. We have dropped the single thread option, in favor of the full thread only with the most recent comment at the bottom. As you can see many more subjects can now be scanned more quickly than before. I hope you find this useful. I will probably add the sort by Forum category later. Let me know if there is anything you would like to see.

Well, I'm going to be contrary on this changed page. I don't like it as well as the previous one. For one thing, it is not as aesthetically pleasing as the old one - which used up more of the screen, colors, nicer font......this page looks like an engineer designed it Smile
Also, on the previous version I was able to quickly run my eyes down the listings and get a more colorful mental picture of how conversations were progressing. I could see who was replying to whom and the approximate time interval between them. It gave me a sense of the "flow of conversation" whereas the current page gives me the feeling that the conversation is being reduced to some kind of numbering system. For me, the new page loses something, though I will concede that it is more efficient.

Roger,
You are right about the look of the page, I am a Software Systems Consultant weekdays and only do work on this page when I have spare time, and I hacked this page out Sunday in a Coding Coma ignoring my family, knowing what I wanted to do, doing it, and not looking at the aesthetics. I can make it more beautiful, and add the functions that were in the old page, etc.. I still have the old page and you can get to it at http://jplan.com/cgi-bin/tractor/todayOld.pl. Roger thanks for the imput it helps make for improvements.
